Russell Gautreaux Interiors
This amazing little shop is owned by Russell Gautreaux, formerly of Louisiana and Texas. In Texas, Russell designed the window displays for Macy's and Hermes. Anyone who has seen Russell's window displays here on Queen Street has seen only a hint of what this great designer can do. My favourite from last year was the christmas tree made entirely of silver pots and silver ware - on a couple of occassions I pointed the the display out to a group that I was travelling with and they would say things like "Oh ya, a tree at christmas...", and I would say "Look more closely", then they would walk up to the window and the next words were usually something like "OMG! It's made from teapots and cups and....". I really love subtlety. Subtlety has layers and layers, and makes designs like Russell's tree endlessly fascinating to look at. Subtlety of language is becoming a lost art with loud blogs all over the place, but subtlety of design can be found on Queen Street at Russell's.
Where is it?
